Other aspects of the LOCKSHOP module are listed and linked in the column to the left.

The RECALL mode allows locksmiths to RECALL all of the keys associated with a KeyID number.  Hooks may be cleared, even if all of the keys have not been returned.  KeyNET keeps a history of all keys associated with the KeyID.  Should all of the keys be returned for a particular KeyID, it could them be assigned the same, or different hook number, and the keys are available for issue.

KeyNET will retain the list of the Key Inventory even though all of the keys are not returned.

Because a recalled KeyID is no longer associated with a hook, Key Issue and the Lockshop modules have no place to collect recalled keys when they are returned.  Therefore, when an individual returns a key that has been marked as recalled, it must be destroyed; or assigned a hook, prior to returning the key to inventory.

Spectrum Group does not recommend recalling a KeyID, and disassociating the KeyID from a hook number unless it is anticipated that the KeyID will NEVER be used again.  However, in some legacy systems which were not managed well, reusing a RECALLED KeyID is necessary.  When this situation occurs, we recommend the following:

  1. Check to see if the KeyID is still associated with a hook number.   To do this, start by clicking on the Key Search link in the Lockshop Group.  In the FIND KEYS group, enter the KeyID you want to know about and click on the SEARCH button.   KeyNET will offer you the KeyID if it is found, click on the KeyID.  If the KeyID has a hook associated with it, the hook number, issue point and number of keys available for issue will be displayed in the left hand column.

  2. Check to see if any old keys are still issued out.  Perform the same tasks as in item 1.   Click on the Display Inventory link in the left-hand column under Options.  KeyNET will display the status of the keys that have been created for this KeyID in the workspace.

It is also possible to check a list of keys which have been tagged as recalled.  To do this, start by clicking on the Key Search link in the Lockshop Group.  In the FIND KEYS group change the RECALL MODE to RECALL and click on the SEARCH button.  KeyNET will provide you with a complete list of all keys you have tagged as recalled.
