INTRODUCTION

SPECTRUM GROUP Incorporated (SG1), created KeyNET™ to provide for efficient

management of keys, and other traceable objects.  KeyNET™ was designed to automate functions associated with the development a Master Key System, generation of keys, issuing of keys, tracking and accounting for keys, and the reports associated with sound practical management of keys.

KeyNET™ is designed as a customizable solution to your Lock Shop and Key Issue needs.  The ability to customize the software package to specific needs of each end user is what sets KeyNET™ apart from other programs.  Most end users will not utilize all of the dynamic functions of KeyNET™.  However, they are there!  You have the ability to start small and add-on, as you so desire.

Have you ever thought about automating the process for Photo Identification Cards, Card Access, Computer Aided Dispatch, Construction Documents, Architectural Drawings, Hardware Specifications, Hardware Schedule,  CCTV or DVR functions,  or almost any other related information?  Even integrating the process to reduce input and improves consistency?  Share information with other databases for reduced workload?  KeyNET™ is a great way to start on that road. Spectrum Group Inc. is building the road.  Spectrum Group Inc. is committed to providing end-users with the avenues for success.

SG1 personnel provide training with your software purchase.  They will help you to customize KeyNET™ program, and get you up and running quickly and efficiently.

ABOUT THE KeyNETTM MANUAL

This user manual is a comprehensive guide of steps and procedures for navigating and using the program, KeyNET™ is server based, browser accessed and work in any environment which supports Browsers.  To help you learn and use the program efficiently, this manual is organized by tasks that build upon on each other.  The KeyNET™ MANUAL is designed to be used like an index or filing cabinet.

This manual assumes you are familiar with the basic computer operations -- point, click, using scroll bars, open, save commands, YOUR Browser Operations, etc.  If you are not familiar with these operations, refer to the manual that came with your computer.   The manual covers the following areas of the program, and may be accessed by clicking on the desired area in the left-hand column.

CONVENTIONS

Throughout the program, there are established operational conventions to assist you for efficiency and ease of use.  There is the dynamic search functions, flexible data entry, security measure to help prevent duplication of core information, and one time entry of essential data.

Operational Functionality

The unique functions of KeyNET™ are designed to MAXIMIZE the use of Single Click Links, and reduce keyboard data entry.

Search Function

The search function is one of many powerful tools built into the program.   KeyNET™ searches on the field where the cursor is located.  Some fields only allow an "exact information" method of search; others allow the user a choice.  Most fields allow the user both options.  Search methods available.

Create  Function

The Create function is another of many powerful tools built into the program.   KeyNET™ allows you to add data to your program via the CREATE feature.  Some fields only allow an "exact information" method of entry; others allow the user a choice.

Your Desktop

The DESKTOP is your workspace.  It's appearance is defined in a number of ways.

First, your Systems Manager may customize the Heading and Footer of your program by providing HTML information to our KeyNET Technicians and they will program it into your KeyNET Zone.  This is typically done at the time of setup, or within the first 30 days of operation.  However, if you have taken advantage of our Support Contract...this option remains open to you at any time.  You may even change the HTML with no additional charge, as a Support Contract subscriber.

Next, the LINKS in the Upper Menu Bar of your page are defined and viewable by the privileges which YOUR Systems Administrator allows for EACH user.  If you do not have access to something you think that you should be seeing, or visa versa, your Systems Manager can correct the problem by granting our denying you further access.

Lastly, each user may further customize how their desktop will appear by selecting, or deselecting item from the "My Account" link at the TOP of each page, in the second menu bar.  A wide variety of options are available.

NOTE: Don't forget the Miscellaneous Preferences at the bottom of the page.  They aren't miscellaneous to the operation, only to what you see.
