Understanding WorkControl Centers

WorkControl is the name used in this manual to describe a Work Order Control Center or Dispatch Center.  While your WorkCenter may be called different things, we will refer to the MAIN CONTROL point for WorkOrders, WorkRequests, Fix-It Tickets and other Requests.  WorkControl may be one person, or multiple people who perform the verification and initial routing of a Request.  The WorkControl is usually the FIRST and the LAST stopping point in the WorkRequests Process.

We will explain WorkControl in a number of environments.

WorkNET will elevate the performance of all types Request's  and work processes.  WorkNET provides our customers with SUPERIOR WorkControl functions and complete work process status tracking.  The ability to notify those associated with work, associate and store related documents with a work request is JUST THE BEGINNING with WorkNET.

Colleges and Universities

Most Colleges and Universities have a Maintenance Department.  Commonly called Facility Services, Facility Management and Physical Plant, these organizations gather highly trained craftsmen and operation professionals to elevate the quality of maintenance, reduce the response time to emergencies, and improve the overall operation and appearance of their facility.  Often these organizations are relatively large and require a great deal of coordination to operate effectively.

In these modern times Colleges and Universities are assisting their Planning Design and Construction departments with creating design specifications, reviewing plans, and intimately involved during the construction process, perform inspections and assist in accepting a Contractors work.

It is often deemed prudent to contract out different aspects of the maintenance operation.  Housekeeping, Custodial, Landscaping and Painting are often the first areas which may NOT be performed by in-house personnel.  Heavy construction such as asphalt and concrete cutting and removal; roofing repairs, specialized welding and window cleaning are also areas that are contracted out, as there is not enough work of these types to keep a full-time employee working.

Their WorkControl Center is at the heart of these operations.  A WorkControl Center coordinates the work processes, and acts as the go-between those requesting work and those performing the work.  WorkControl also summarizes the time and materials and associated reports for the work performed.
