About WorkNET

 

WorkNETTM is an Advanced Software System which is HIGHLY CUSTOMIZABLE and EXTREMELY FLEXIBLE in how it can be used.  The design of WorkNET allows for the customization and naming of data fields, creation of drop-downs for ease of data information input, rapid data recall, and customized process routing.  Our Spectrum Group Team will help you to evaluate your needs and setup a WorkNET system which is CUSTOMIZED for you and your operation.  Once your WorkNET system has been setup, our Spectrum Group Professionals will train you staff on HOW TO USE your system.  Future or additional training is always available.  WorkNET is provided with a yearly SUPPORT CONTRACT, which provides you with upgrades, enhancements and on-line support to YOUR Systems Manager.  It is rare that a customer does NOT want to further customize or tweak the program at some future point; our Support Staff is always available to assist with your questions and provide the help you need to accomplish you goals.

WorkNET is a Browser Accessed Software System.  The advantages of or Web Application is huge over the conventional Client Based programs on the market today.   With a client based application, the same version of the same program must reside on each computer which will be using the program.  Upgrades or enhancements are usually infrequent due to the time it takes to perform the upgrades on each computer (yes, all computers MUST be running on the same version of software).  this often requires one or two people to administer to the software and perform the IT functions required to maintain a client based system.  Licenses are sold for each computer, or for groups of computers...which can get expensive.  Support and Service Contracts are typically MORE EXPENSIVE that a web based application, because the manufacture must support all versions of their software which have been released.   With a Web Based, Browser Accessed system, enhancements and upgrades are performed only once (so everyone is on the same version).  Service and Support is less expensive because the manufacturer of the software only has to maintain one version of the software (the most current).

Spectrum Group deploys WorkNET in 5 ways. 

  • The most commonly used deployment is called Subscription Based.  With the Subscription based system, the your program and data reside on our High Speed Servers.  Spectrum Group monitors the server for possible trouble, performs backups of your data for you, creates Remote-Data Storage of all your information, performs all IT functions except maintaining your LAN (local area network), and insures that your data is accessible to those you have allowed.

  • There are two Site Based deployments available for those who want to maintain the Web-Server in their server farm.  The Web-Appliance deployment is very similar to the Subscription based system...except that the Server in not in our location, but at your facility.  The server is completely maintained and controlled remotely by our staff.  The Customer-Controlled deployment differs greatly from the Web-Appliance deployment.  The web server resides at the customers location.  The customer must have an IT staff thoroughly trained in Linux SuSE   The Customer is completely responsible for the server, and has Root Access to the server.  All backups and other maintenance functions are the responsibility of the customer.  Enhancements and Upgrades are provided by Spectrum Group either electronically or by disc, but the installation is the responsibility of the customer.  Assistance is available to a customers IT staff on a hourly charge basis.

  • Two of the deployment models are designed for single user, off-line use (one computer with NO networking).   These deployment methods requires special handling are are designed for small operation.

The purpose behind WorkNET is to assist in the work process.  WorkNET can be customized for almost any kind work environment.  WorkNET was built out of necessity.  WorkNET is designed to pickup where other software packages leaves off, and provide our customers with the features and conveniences that other Database Programs lack.

As items are licensed in WorkNET, the licensed product will appear in a banner at the top of your Web Page.  The items a USER will be allowed to view, create, modify or delete will depend on the PRIVILEGES allowed by YOUR Systems Administrator.   To understand this concept in greater detail simply click on the links in the left-hand column of this manual, under System Manager.

WorkNET can be used in a very simplistic form, or you can add more powerful and robust features to enhance and empower YOUR system to obtain the RESULTS you want and need.  Some of those features include CUSTOMER LISTS, VENDOR LISTS, Multi-Level INVENTORY, REQUEST CHANNELING, REQUEST CALENDARS, REQUEST PROJECTS, REQUEST FILE ATTACHMENTS, REQUEST JOURNALS, REQUEST MEMBERSHIP, and MUCH, MUCH MORE!!

WorkNET can be CUSTOMIZED to meet almost any Database need, and process sequencing.  A Systems Manager can NAME fields whatever they want.  If you don't like what you named it, simply have your Systems Administrator change the name of the field to a name more appropriate for your operation.  This feature also allows Systems Managers to add, modify, or delete fields to meet your CURRENT needs.  If you want to change the ORDER in which fields appear...WorkNET allows YOUR Systems Manager to do that also.  As YOUR needs change...WorkNET can change with you.
